This album came originally from requests I have had to record something on the piano. I have been playing and inventing on the piano since I was 3. A lot of my inspiration has arrived whilst playing, and it has also been the conduit for my personal kaleidoscope of feelings and emotions, from sorrow to joy to exuberance to anger to sadness to yearning.

The piano is my home instrument, and having decided to make this album, I wanted this music to come from the heart, to reflect my love for diversity, without any considerations of placement or target demographics. I also wanted the music to reflect what I love about life, from being still in the countryside, to dancing to la salsa cubana, to waking up to my own personal virtuoso of a blackbird, to missing my beloved.

Music has the extraordinary ability to evoke different things for different people,
and to touch in unexpected ways, so for me the circle is complete when there
is an audience to receive, respond and sometimes react. I have many times been
surprised when people have said that the music I have been part of helped someone
through a difficult time, or inspired another to forgive, or even been a life-saver
(or at least a party-saver!).

It has taken me 4 years to make this album, and I have been supported with a
lot of love whilst riding the usual/surprising rollercoaster between self doubt
and self belief. I have made the album I wished to make, and I look forward to
what it will give rise to.
